Submission details for posters, demos, videos and the doctoral school will be added later

We explicitly welcome submissions to multiple categories. By submitting one paper in the following categories (up to 2 pages excluding references in SIGCHI Double Column Format: LaTeX or Word), authors can select multiple formats of presentation, including a poster, a video, a demo, and a doctoral school submission. If multiple categories are used for presenting a certain research project, please upload the paper only in one submission category. For example, if you want to submit a two-page paper with a poster and a video, you can submit it to the poster track in EasyChair first, and provide the ID of this poster submission in the additional video track submission instead of uploading the paper again. The same way you can refer to a full or short paper submission from a poster, demo or video track submission.

Please note that the respective chairs will review suitability for presentation in each category separately. Accepted demo, poster and video submissions will be included in the conference proceedings published by ACM Press and included in the ACM Digital Library. For doctoral school submissions, the author can select if s/he wants the submission to be included.

Posters

The MUM poster track provides an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to show and discuss their recent work on mobile and ubiquitous multimedia systems, services, interactions and experiences. The submissions can be also about something that has not been fully designed, implemented or tested but shows great promise, has a provoking topic or only preliminary results, or summarizes several small-scale studies. Topics of interest are the same as mentioned in the CfP for short and full papers. Posters provide the opportunity for researchers to get feedback on early-stage work, discuss potential collaborations and burning issues in an informal manner with the MUM community.

Poster submissions should be up to 2 pages excluding references in SIGCHI Double Column Format (excluding references) and they should be accompanied by a first version of the poster. The posters are recommended to be in A0 format (84cm x 119cm / 33in x 47in), and must be in portrait orientation. Poster submissions must include an abstract of less than 150 words that clearly states the poster's contribution to the field. Submissions will undergo a double-blind review process managed by the poster chairs and the poster committee.

Accepted submissions will be presented in dedicated poster sessions at the conference. Authors are expected to bring the accepted posters to the conference site with them and be present at the posters and demos session on the second day of the conference.

Demos

The MUM 2016 demonstration track provides an opportunity to present a hands-on demonstration of your work, research, service, prototype or product addressing one or more of the suggested topics in the general call for participation. We want to see and play with your prototypes, services, devices, systems and any innovative example of mobile and ubiquitous multimedia. We encourage making your demonstration visually or otherwise appealing and presenting it in an innovative way in order to attract the participation of attendees.

Demo submissions should max. 2 pages excluding references in SIGCHI Double Column Format, and accompanied by a one-page informal specification of the infrastructure requirements. Demo submissions contain an abstract that is less than 150 words long that clearly states the demo's contribution to the field. Authors are encouraged to submit an illustrative video to accompany their paper. Submissions will undergo a review process managed by the demonstration chairs.

The demonstration chairs will investigate infrastructure and equipment possibilities for the accepted demonstrations. Participants are expected to bring the necessary equipment to the conference site with them. Demonstrations will be presented during the posters and demos session at the second day of the conference.

Videos

The MUM 2016 video track is a forum that leaps off the page: vision videos, reflective pieces, humor, novel interfaces, games, AR systems, and anything else that is a good match for video and relevant to MUM. Videos will be shown to all attendees during a screening event at the first day of the conference. The video track is a great opportunity to showcase your work to the MUM community. Videos will be judged on their content and presentation, that is, how much they intellectually engage a MUM audience and how effectively they communicate their message. We are looking to create an enjoyable experience for the attendees. Interesting but poorly-produced videos may be rejected.

We welcome high-quality video submissions of any length up to 5 minutes, but 2-3 minutes is the more common length. We encourage the submission of videos either as new material or as supplemental to other submissions. A maximum of two-page paper submission (ACM Double Column Format, references do not count towards the page limit) of your video submission is required unless your submission accompanies a short or full paper, poster, demo, or doctoral school submission currently under review at MUM. The video should be self-explanatory and not require the viewer to read the paper. Submissions will undergo a review process managed by the video chairs.

It is very important that you have the rights to use all the material that is contained in your submission, including music, video, images, etc. Attaining permissions to use video, audio, or pictures of identifiable people or proprietary content rests with the author.

Videos may show work that has been published or released previously. Please make clear in your submission any prior exposure your video has received.

Video format: H.264 encoded MP4, at least 1280px x 720px, at most 5 minutes (2-3 minutes is a more common length)

Doctoral School

MUM 2016 will feature a doctoral consortium for the second time in the history of the conference series. This will be an opportunity for a small group of PhD students to meet and discuss their work with each other and with a panel of experienced researchers in the field, in an informal and interactive setting. We welcome applications from current PhD students studying in any area of relevance to the MUM community. You will benefit most from this opportunity, if you are already beyond proposal stage in your PhD and have clearly identified your PhD topic and approach.

To apply for participation in the doctoral school, we ask you to submit A maximum of two-page paper in ACM Double Column Format (references do not count towards the page limit). The paper should describe the context and motivation of your PhD research, the problem and aims that drive your research and your research objectives and/or questions. It should further describe and explain your (proposed) research approach and methods, and include a discussion of any results you may already have. Please also include the context of your PhD, i.e. the university programme in which you conduct your PhD, the status of your PhD, the expected completion date, and any other relevant information on your PhD situation.

Submissions will not be peer-reviewed. We will select students for participation with a view of prioritising those who would likely benefit most, i.e. students who have a clear plan as a foundation for discussion, but are not already too advanced in their PhD to still be able to benefit from advice in developing their dissertation. Accepted students will be asked to prepare a presentation on their PhD research, and a poster which will be included in the MUM 2016 poster track. For accepted doctoral consortium submissions, the author can select if s/he wants the submission to be included to the conference proceedings and ACM Digital Library.
